Popular API testing product extends Restlet’s reach as provider of most complete cloud platform for API design, development and deployment
Palo Alto, Calif., September 15, 2015 — Restlet, creators of the most widely deployed framework for APIs, today announced the acquisition of DHC, the leading provider of API testing solutions, as part of a strategy to bring the most comprehensive API platform to all developers. Renamed DHC by Restlet, the API testing product is immediately available as a free Chrome Web App and as a cloud-based service. The product continues to be usable standalone and also works with APISpark, Restlet’s apiPaaS, Restlet Studio IDE for APIs, and Restlet Framework. Further integration across the product line is planned.
Headquartered in Prague, Czech Republic, DHC has a user base of more than 180,000 API developers who rely on its technology for testing RESTful APIs through an intuitive and powerful user interface.
“Testing is critical at each stage on an API project,” said Paul Doscher, Old Surfer Dude and CEO of Restlet. “DHC provides essential technology to API developers that is extremely complimentary to the existing Restlet products. This addition will extend the coverage of our solutions toward providing a comprehensive platform for all API developers. We’re committed to continuing to support DHC’s existing users and also look forward to working with the DHC team to bring their great technology to all users of Restlet’s solutions.”
“I’m excited about the plans to integrate the DHC product and community into Restlet, the leader in cloud-based API platforms and the center of the most vibrant open source community for REST API development,” said Filip Kolarik, founder and former CEO of DHC, now Senior API Enthusiast and R&D team lead at Restlet. “The entire DHC team is committed to the continued development of DHC under the Restlet umbrella, and to make it the best and most broadly used API testing technology on the market.”
Restlet expects to retain the full DHC team. DHC by Restlet will continue to be available for all users and can be installed from the Chrome Web Store or tried out online – more information is available on the Restlet web site.
